SPORT TO SERVE HUMANITARIAN ACTION
ATHLETES OF THE WORLD contributes to build peace in the world

Jean Galfione, Olympic champion in pole vaulting, Vincent Ohl, photographer, and Alain Trouvé, martial arts teacher, have decided to join forces and competencies in creating Athletes of the world. The organisation undertakes actions for children and women victims of violence throughout the world. It informs the general public and sporting world about children deprived of rights, in order to mobilise local and international opinion.

Athletes of the World is acting on the grounds of social concern and responsibility calling for legitimate international generosity.

Actions developing around sports:
Physical and sporting activities are real areas of social interaction around the world.
Sports allow the rebuilding of social links through an educational approach, in order for unprivileged children or victims to find a place back into the society that disregarded them; they contribute to reinforce fundamental universal rights such as women’s freedom.
By its actions in the field, Athletes of the World supports local initiatives and builds programs for child protection and women’s empowerment in various countries.

Athletes of the World Actions
 
Athletes of the World undertakes action in the field in association with the actions developed by local social groups. In order to do so, Athletes of the World sets up partnerships with local NGO’s and institutions in the related country. It tends to be an “integrated” approach with a “self-sustainable development” logic.
 

Athletes of the World mobilizes high level sportsmen in order for them:

  • to share and transmit their experiences to children in a pedagogical process elaborated by local social workers and specialized teachers.
  • to help obtain material means (facilities, training equipment etc.) to practice sport in a safe environment.
  • to become spokes persons for these children in their sports community and the larger audience.
 
Athletes of the World awakens a large audiences through its collection of books “Athletes of the World”. Through stories and photographs, the collection presents children as victims of exploitation and violence and brings to light outstanding portraits and destinies. It relates, from each country, the encounter of children with internationally recognized sports people where each other gets enriched by the other’s experience, in a spirit of sharing and mutual solidarity.
